Top of the Crops!

Charlize Theron’s new, cutting-edge ‘do made an appearance yesterday. Well, almost – the actress kept her crop  under wraps with a pork pie hat.

Rather than it being a fashion statement, or any other kind of statement (eg. Britney Spears’ tragic bald episode), the actress’ new look is in fact for her upcoming role in Mad Max: fury road. That’s fury by the way, not furry.

Very few women – or men for that matter – can pull off dramatically short hair. A military chop usually requires exceptional bone structure. You’d also need some seriously thick skin, both physically and proverbially, to brave the weather and people’s reactions!

But over the years some of the world’s most beautiful women have absolutely dominated this scissor-happy look. Take a look to find out who…

1. Sinéad O’Connor

It’s an obvious choice, but there’s no denying that Sinéad O’Connor looked incredible in the 80s with a shaved head.

2. Natalie Portman

Genius / actress Natalie Portman had a buzz-cut for her role in V for Vendetta, and somehow ended up looking cute AND stunning. Oh Nat, you do annoy.

3. Demi Moore

Demi had her head shaved for her role in GI Jane, but instead of looking just like her ex-husband Bruce Willis, she actually looked beautiful.

 4. Grace Jones

A frightening but striking blend of masculine and feminine, Grace Jones and her severe haircut are truly unforgettable.

 5. Rihanna

This hairstyle is incredibly cool. End of.
